Today we officially launch the Analogue iPhone-optimized website. With the announcement yesterday of the iPhone 3GS, and just as important—the price reduction of the standard iPhone 3G to $99, we feel the iPhone can no longer be ignored as some fringe platform (you’d be surprised at the resistance some have to this device—and always for some petty personal preference, or even worse, for some bizarre loyalty to an inferior brand or platform).
Why develop a special “iPhone version” of your site (replying to a comment we received a while back regarding separate iPhone-optimized sites)? Because our site is Flash-based—that’s why. Until Flash and the iPhone can play nicely, then we will require 2 experiences.
There is also no need to provide a unique URL to people, either. With a bit of javascript magic, the iPhone and iPod Touch are easily detected: desktop browsers see the standard site, iPhones see their own…
