I still don’t understand why Apple hasn’t created a docking solution for notebooks—but this might actually be the first solution that succeeds. I’ll be curious to read people’s reviews of this dock. Check it out at Henge Docks.

A while back I signed-up to learn more about the HP slate. Today I received the above e-mail. I’ve got some advice for you HP—you might want to send e-mails that don’t make people feel like criminals. I think I’ve made up my mind about getting a slate… I’m just trying to imagine Apple sending an e-mail like this.

Surprise somebody with an old fashioned analogue form of communication. Make your messages more memorable and apprecaited by using Telegram Stop. I will be doing all my communication in this form from now on.

We still have a ways to go. I’m finding the concept of “cloud” computing, or “cloud” services and applications, can be a difficult one for some people to wrap their heads around. Case-in-point: my wife. She is a tech-savvy girl—she has almost a decade on me with respect to mobile phone usage—yet she still insists on carrying USB memory sticks around in her purse, or in her pocket. Even worse, she will often rely on emailing important work files to herself. I’ve tried to turn her on to using Dropbox, but for some reason, she simply does not want to bother (even though the benefits have been made quite clear to her). I think we need a dead-simple explanation of the benefits of storing files online, on a remote machine, to turn-the-tide.
No matter how many external drive back-ups you have, or burned DVD’s—if your home, office, or studio burns down, or much more likely, gets burglarized, I think it’s a safe bet you’ll lose everything. Your data is 1000x more valuable than your new Macbook Pro and 1TB Lacie drives.

We re-shot all of our project screens today using an iPhone, and an app called “Quad Camera“. It produces a moody, Lomography-styled image. Impressive little app.

37signals begins it’s “37signals ID” rollout this week. They are another good example of a company with design woven into the fabric of their being. This should simplify and unify the 37signals product experience. Smart move.

Wallet, by Canadian-based Acrylic, will make your life a whole-lot-easier. Store sensitive data (that if you lost you’d be toast) in a secure OS X application, and sync it with an iPhone version as well. Need to store that data in the cloud? Wallet does that to. Syncs with MobileMe.
